HAMMERSLEY CORNFLOWER SMALL CREAM AND SUGAR SET
Beautiful Blue Flowers - Gold Trimmed!
|
I am pleased to offer a very nice Hammersley Cornflower Blue small sugar and
creamer set. I believe the pattern number is 6034. The sugar bowl is about
3 inches across and 2 inches high, so you can get an idea of the size. Both pieces are
trimmed with gold and are in very nice condition!

Hammersley & Co. was based at Alsager Pottery, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent. The
company began in 1887 and in 1970 was bought by Carborundum Ltd In 1976
the companies merged with Royal Worcester to become Royal Worcester Spode Ltd.
The Hammersley trade name was taken over by Palissy Pottery Ltd, part of the
group, in 1982 and the Hammersley's Works closed in that year.

Sugar Bowl - About 3" across and 2" high
Cream Pitcher - About 3-1/2" from handle to spout and 3-1/2" high at the tallest

Transfer |
The flowers are perfect, very bright, and colorful without fading or flaws.
The very top ridge of each piece is coated in gold. There are a very very
small areas where the gold is worn which I did not notice unless looking in a very bright light.
|
Ground |
Very white overall. Looking closely in a bright light, I see a few very
tiny dots of paint, mostly blue, that look like little bits of transfer paint that got away during the manufacturing process.
|
Glaze |
No crazing or other glaze flaws seen
|
Chips/Cracks |
None
|
Stains |
None
|
Use Marks |
On the creamer front there is a 1/2" very shallow, minor and narrow scratch.
It is hard to see and looks like it might be a factory flaw.
