BOTANIC GARDEN RARE ORANGE CACTUS STRAP HANDLE MUG
Retired Original Oatmeal Flower - 12 Ounce - Excellent Condition NO Crazing!

I am pleased to offer an original and rare wide strap handle coffee mug in the Orange Cactus motif. The Orange Cactus was one of the four original oatmeal bowl motifs not assigned a plant name. It was retired long ago in 1978.

This 12 oz mug is in great condition with NO crazing so it can still be used with liquids. It is very clean with just a few very tiny and minor signs of use. Please be sure to look below to see the full description. So hard to find in excellent usable condition!

The Orange Cactus flower was one of the four original oatmeal motifs, introduced in 1972 and retired early in 1978, that did not have a Latin name assigned nor is the common name ever printed on the item. There are three other unnamed oatmeal motifs that were retired long ago in the 1978. The design was inspired by an image in the 1840 botany book La Flore des Dames by A. Jacquemart.

A HUGE green butterfly is on the back.

Size Approximately 3-1/4" across the top (not including the handle) and 4" high
Liquid capacity - 12 ounces
Transfer A flower is on the front and large butterfly on the back. Both are very bright and have excellent color.

On the orange flower there are two pin head sized VERY SMALL transfer cuts which are almost microscopic and so hard to see that I could not catch it in the photo. Mentioned only to make a complete description.
Ground Very white
Glaze NO crazing and very shiny glaze.

The only flaw I see is a very small pin head sized pale spot that looks like it might be a factory flaw. Very minor. I could only see it in a very bright light and mentioned only to make a complete description.
Chips/Cracks None
Stains None, even the bottom unglazed ring where it sits on a surface is very clean. In the photo below it looks like some shelf wear is present but is just an anomaly from the camera.
Use Marks None, but probably has been used. It must have been well taken care of.
Other Comments An excellent example of the long ago retired and rare Orange Cactus mug!

The cup is marked with a Susan Williams Ellis 2nd Trophy ID mark used in the late 1970's to early 1980's.
