BOTANIC GARDEN ORIGINAL OATMEAL BOWL - COTTON FLOWER
Original Oatmeal Motif Flower Retired - Minty Bowl!

I am pleased to offer a Botanic Garden original Oatmeal Bowl featuring the Barbados Cotton Flower or Gossypium Barbadense motif. The Cotton Flower is one of the original six oatmeal flowers and retired in 1988. It went on to be used on bread and butter plates and other items over the years and has many variations. This motif is the original oatmeal bowl version.

The bowl is as perfect as can be with a perfect transfer and glaze and showing no signs of use, wear, or crazing. It is so rare to find a retired original motif oatmeal bowl in such wonderful condition.

The Cotton Flower was originally used in 1972 on oatmeal bowls, then on bread and butter plates in 1976, and finally retired in 1988. The motif was based on an antique 1830 botany book Flora Conspicua by Richard Morris and William Clarke.

The Cotton Flower has gone through several different insect arrangements over the years. Also, there are varieties with one, two, three, and four flower heads. This item has one flower head and is the original version of the decoration.
