I am pleased to offer a Portmeirion Birds Of Britain 13 inch oval platter featuring the Pheasant or Phasianus Colchicus. There is a green band around the edge which was discontinued many, many years ago. This platter has a rim while many Birds Of Britain platters do not have any rim.

The platter is in excellent shiny condition with a few very minor signs use. There are some very clean hard to see patches of crazing as common on older Portmeirion. Please be sure to look below and see the complete description more photos...


The Birds Of Britain pattern illustrations were taken from the 'Natural History Of British Birds' by Edward Donovan which was printed in 1794.

The Pheasant bird was mostly used on larger pieces and not usually seen on platters.

Size	About 13-1/4" by 9-1/2" across the top and 10" by 6-1/2" across the bottom The rim is approximately 3/4" wide
Transfer	The motif has nice bright colors and not faded at all.
Ground	Very white
Glaze	Nice shiny glaze overall with no flaws seen. Mostly on the right side, there are some patches of crazing present which are so common on the older bird's dishes. It is very clean and hard to see unless looking in a very bright light.
Chips/Cracks	None
Stains	None
Use Marks	There are a few shallow, short and very hard to see marks likely from another dish stacked on top. There are not many and are minor. Not easily seen unless looking sideways in a bright light.
Other Comments	The bottom has full glaze applied. Some Portmeirion platters have an unglazed bottom for use in the oven. Because of the age of this item, it would not be advisable to use in the oven or microwave or subject it to any temperature extremes. Attractive green band Birds Of Britain Pheasant platter!

The bottom is fully glazed so should be used for serving only and not baking.
