BOTANIC GARDEN RARE AUSTRIAN LILY 19 INCH OVAL BAKER
Very Large And Impressive Platter Only Made 1991 - 1993!
|
I am pleased to offer a very rare and large 19 inch Portmeirion Austrian Lily or Lilium Martagum
oval platter It seems ideal for cooking or serving a nice big fish. Or a
wonderful piece for serving appetizers.
The baker is just about as nice as it can be with shiny glaze, NO crazing, and no signs of use or wear. Common on very large Portmeirion pieces and hard to see and describe, the top surface has tiny shallow glaze bumps especially near the flower. Please see the photos and description below.
The Austrian Lily is one of the
most rare and desirable Botanic Garden flowers. It was produced only from
1991 to 1993. An old botanist writing, Botanist's Repository, Volume
VI was the inspiration for this wonderful motif.

Transfer |
The transfer is bright and very colorful. I do not see any cuts or scratches in the transfer.

Very white. Found mostly near the flower, hard to notice unless looking sideways in a bright light, there are tiny shallow glaze bumps. They are smooth and fully covered with glaze. I have seen these on several large fish platters and were caused at the factory when the dish was made.
