BOTANIC GARDEN 9 INCH CROCUS And SNOWDROP SALAD BOWL
VERY UNIQUE WITH PASSION FLOWER AROUND THE OUTSIDE
One Of A Kind Bowl In Excellent Condition!

I am happy to offer a 9 inch Portmeirion Botanic Garden bowl featuring a one of a kind configuration of the Crocus and Snowdrop motif on the inside and lots of Passion Flowers on the outside. It also has a green band on the outside edge which was mostly seen on Birds Of Britain.

The condition of the bowl is shiny and excellent with nice crisp transfers and no crazing. There are no sign of use or wear.

This bowl was made exclusively for sale in Portmeirion's factory store and likely from left over transfers after the Snowdrop-Crocus and/or Passion Flower was retired. Since it was not produced for the general Botanic Garden catalog, it has an oval 2nds ID mark on the bottom. I do not see any condition issues at all. Please do be sure to look below for a complete description and more photos.

The Crocus and Snowdrop was a bread and butter plate motif, introduced in 1980 and retired in 2000. There are two color versions of this motif. This is the darker version with more pronounced and deeper accents at the edges of the flowers and leaves. It was inspired by image in a 1830 botany book,Romance of Flowers. by Louisa Twomley.

This unique bowl version is a little different than the version found on B & B plates. The most pronounced difference is that there is no butterfly found on the lower left side.

The Passion Flower was an original 1972 dinner plate motif and retired in 2003. The long lived design was based on a William Clarke illustration in the 1835 antique botany book Moral of Flowers by Mrs. Hey.
