BOTANIC GARDEN GLASS 'BLACK STRIPE' 7 INCH GLASS CANISTER
Very Rare Canister Made For Portmeirion By Cerve In Italy - Unique!

I am pleased to offer an unusual glass 7 inch high Botanic Garden canister with a black ground and six strips of alternating Rhododendron and Speedwell. It is from the Black Stripes Botanic Garden collection and discontinued over 10 years ago. Black Stripes was offered in several accessory pieces such as trays, textiles, and these canisters.

It was made in Italy by Cerve Glass for Portmeirion and is in excellent condition with the Portmeirion sticker still on the bottom. The only flaw I see is an oval more pale area on the lid where a Portmeirion sticker once was.

A really unique and rare Botanic Garden piece! Please be sure to look below to see more photos and description.

Portmeirion Botanic Garden Canister
(Please excuse any white spots near the top and just under the lid that are only glare from photo lighting)

The Rhododendron and Speedwell designs are coffee cup or oatmeal bowl flowers and are also found on most Botanic Garden Variations sub-pattern items. The colors are especially bright and striking on the jar.

The Botanic Stipes also came in white and red backgrounds but have only seen this canister in black.

The lid does look just like wood but seems to be made from a plastic material. There is a rubber gasket in the lid's inside which still holds a really nice seal. I tried to take the photo so the oval faded area is more pronounced than it is in person. There was once a Portmeirion sticker there that was likely left on too long.
