I am pleased to offer a rarely seen flat egg cup in the Spirit Of Christmas pattern. I have never seen a Spirit Of Christmas egg cup before and have not seen most the six decorations on the side on any other Spirit item. There is a mustard colored 2nds ID mark on the bottom but do not see any flaws at all. The egg cup shape was most likely never offered in the general Spirit Of Christmas catalog and was a 'special decoration' sold exclusively at Portmeirion's factory store.

This unique pattern was created in 1983 for the US market and was very short lived. I also have another egg cup offered that has six side decorations that are different from this item.

The egg cup is in mint and in very clean condition with no signs of use or wear. Again, I do not see even any cosmetic flaws.


There are six different small decorations around the side. I have never seen these designs on any other Spirit Of Christmas piece.

The complex Spirit Of Christmas design was conceived by Susan Williams-Ellis and based on old quilt pattern designs. It was very time consuming to produce as each small image template was hand cut from paper. A charming pattern, produced only in 1983, it is now difficult to find.
