PORTMEIRION BOTANIC GARDEN 10 INCH MEXICAN LILY FLAN DISH
Retired And Pretty Flan In Mint Shiny Condition!
|
I am happy to offer an excellent Mexican Lily or Amaryllis Reginae almost 10 inch flan
dish. This motif was retired several years ago and this one, with a beautiful overglaze transfer, is very nice.
This piece is in wonderful shiny condition with no signs of use or wear.
The Mexican Lily flower was an
original dinner plate motif, introduced in 1972 and retired in 1994. It was
inspired by image in a 1824 book,The Universal Herbal by Thomas
Green.
Three dinner plate versions were made. At the start of the Botanic Garden range in 1972,
a first version was produced in very small quantities. Then, the 2nd
insect arrangement used for many, many years until 1993. The third version was
made only from 1993 until the Mexican Lily was retired in 1994. Also, a very
rare Double version exists and is seen on 15 inch platters.
