COMPLEAT ANGLER GILLAROO TROUT 14 INCH BAKING DISH
Very Heavy And Nice Retired Oval Baking Dish - With Ferns On Outside!

I am pleased to offer a Portmeirion Compleat Angler Irish Gillaroo Trout 14 by 9 inch oval baking dish. It has an unglazed bottom for baking in the oven but could be used for serving as well.

The top of the baker is in excellent shiny condition with no signs of use, scratches, or wear. The unglazed bottom does show indication that it has been used. Please be sure to look below for more photos and full description.

Portmeirion Compleat Angler Oval Baker

Designed as an offering for the male market, fish designs were taken from the 1879 book The Compleat Angler - British Fishes by M. J. Lydon.

The latin and common names are printed near the fish - Gillaroo Trout, Irish Sea Trout, and Salmo Stomachius.

Most Compleat Angler baking dishes do not have any decoration on the outside but this one has lots of fern decorations.

Condition Button
Size Approximately 14-1/2" by 9-1/4" across the top, 13.5" by 8.5" across the bottom and about 2" deep on the outside
Transfer Nice and colorful with no flaws at all
Ground Very white on the top and sides. The unglazed bottom color is yellowish.
Glaze NO crazing and nice shiny glaze. The bottom is unglazed for use in the oven with lots of little 'feet' so it sits elevated.
Chips/Cracks None
Stains None at all on the face and sides. The dish has been used and shows some indication of having been used in the oven. I did not try to soak it or clean it so may clean up a bit more. Please see the photo below.
Use Marks None on the face. As described above and in the photo of the bottom.
Other Comments A nice Portmeirion Compleat Angler retired oval heavy baking dish with a fern border!

The ID mark on the bottom is a fully Vitrified' ID mark that was used on many baking dishes made by Portmeirion in the late 1970's to early 1980's.
