PORTMEIRION POMONA 8 INCH WIDE OPEN BOWL - DRUM SHAPE - RARE FRUITS
Lots Of Retired Fruits and Wilmots Gooseberry!
|
I am happy to present an excellent Pomona 8 inch wide bowl featuring six different fruits. Included are The Red
Currant, Pippin Apple, Wilmots Gooseberry, L'Imperatrice Plum, Biggerraux Cherry, and Hoary Morning Apple
around the outside. The newer bowls seem to always
come with a lid. However, I have had several of older drum shape bowls like this and none has had a lid.
The bowl is very nice condition with no crazing and only a very few and very minor signs of use. Please look below to see a full description
and lots of photos of the colorful fruits.
All of the Pomona fruits are part of the original set and are retired except for the Hoary Morning Apple.

All are bright and colorful with no flaws or damage
|
Ground |
Very white
|
Glaze |
Perfect, shiny with no flaws or crazing
|
Chips/Cracks |
None
|
Stains |
None, except for a slight bit of shelf wear on the bottom unglazed ring where it sits on a surface. Please see the photo below.
|
Use Marks |
I see a few VERY tiny silver marks on the upper rim. They are caused by another ceramic rubbing against it.
In a very bright light, I also see a pin head sized indentation in the glaze that is a pale tan.
Otherwise, there are NO signs of use like silver lines, stains, major scratches, or glaze pops.

The bowl carries a brown color round Pomona Goddess Of Fruit ID mark. This ornate
backstamp was used from about 1982 until 1985.
