BOTANIC GARDEN VARIATIONS LARGE BASIN AND PITCHER SET
Cyclamen Pitcher and Woody Nightshade Basin - New Condition!

I am pleased to offer a hard to find two piece Portmeirion Botanic Garden basin and pitcher set featuring two different Variations motifs. This design is part of the discontinued Botanic Garden Variations sub pattern which features a smaller main transfer along with springs of Rhododendron and Forget Me Not.

The pitcher, about 56 ounces, is decorated with the Ivy Leaved Cyclamen or Cyclamen Repandum on the basin with the retired Woody Nightshade or Solanum Dulcamara on the bowl. Please look below to see all the photos.

Both pieces are in mint condition with the UPC stickers still attached on each.

The Woody Nightshade motif was an original 1972 motif on salad plates and retired in 1994. In 1980, there was a change in insects. The older version has a most interesting 'Blue Bee'. It was inspired by image in an 1824 book,The Universal Herbal by Thomas Green.

The Ivy Leaved Cyclamen flower was an original oatmeal bowl motif, introduced in 1972, moved to a B & B plate in 1985, and still remains in production today. There are two different insect and flower versions. The oldest has four flower heads and the newer has nine heads. It was based on an image in an 1840 book,La Flore des Dames by A. Jacquemart.
