BOTANIC GARDEN MANCHINEEL TREE DINNER PLATE
A Most Sought After Botanic Garden Motif - Exceptional And Shiny Condition!
|
I am pleased to offer a Botanic Garden dinner plate in the Manchineel Tree or
Hippomane Mancinella motif. It is the best example of a Manchineel Tree dinner
plate that I have ever seen and looks like new.
To avoid crazing, the plate is temperature sensitive and can only be shipping if temps at our location
and yours are above freezing and under around 85 degrees.
The transfer is 'over-glaze' and is nice and crisp looking. The glaze has like
new shine with NO crazing and NO wear. Somebody took exceptional care of this
dish over the years.
One of the most sought after and rare Botanic Garden flowers, the Manchineel
Tree flower was an original dinner plate motif, introduced in 1972 and
retired in 1983. It was inspired by image in a 1824 book,The Universal
Herbal by Thomas Green.

There is a pale green '5' near the plant name indicating that it was
made in the late 1970's or early 1980's when Portmeirion was using a numbering
scheme for motifs.

Very bright, shiny, colorful, and not faded at all. A perfect transfer.
The orange seed pod on the top of the transfer tends to fade, but this one is very bright.
The transfer was applied over the glaze and these types of transfers are
very shiny with well defined edges.

Very white

Glaze |
The glaze is exceptionally shiny and flawless overall. More shiny than most.
