BIRDS OF BRITAIN HARLEQUIN DUCK 10 INCH PIZZA PLATTER
With Hard To Find Green Band - Excellent Condition!
|
I am pleased to offer a Portmeirion Birds Of Britain
10 inch pizza plate or platter featuring the Harlequin Duck or
Histrionicus Histrionicus bird. This platter has a desirable green band which was discontinued long ago.
The platter is in excellent shiny condition with no crazing and is in very near mint condition with a
few very, very minor signs of use. Please
be sure to look below to see more photos and a complete description.
The Harlequin Duck was mostly used on dinner plates and not often seen on other shapes. The green band was
discontinued early in the range due to production problems.

The Birds Of Britain pattern
illustrations were taken from the 'Natural History Of British Birds' by
Edward Donovan which was printed in 1794. The entire range was retired several years ago.

During the late 1970's and early 1980's, Portmeirion used a numbering system
on some motifs. This item has a number 6 near the bird's name.

The green band is an even grey-green color, without seams, rough areas, or
other common problems that often plagued the
green band pieces.

Very shiny glaze overall with no crazing
The bottom surface is unglazed and has several concentric rings for use

Mentioned only to be completely accurate, there are a few VERY short, shallow, narrow and hard to see stacking
marks from another item stacked on top. I could only see them looking sideways and closely under a bright. Very minor.
