BOTANIC GARDEN ORIGINAL OATMEAL BOWL - CANTERBURY BELLS or REDSTAR
Original Oatmeal Motif Flower Retired Years Ago - Shiny, Very Near Mint!
|
I am pleased to offer a Botanic Garden original Oatmeal Bowl featuring the
Canterbury Bells or Red Star motif. The Canterbury Bells is one of the original
six oatmeal flowers, retired in 1978, and also one of the four that did not have an assigned name.
The bowl is about as nice as can be with a perfect transfer and glaze and showing
very, very few signs of use, wear, or crazing. It is so rare to find a retired original
motif oatmeal bowl in such wonderful condition. Please be sure to look below for a full description.
The Canterbury Bells flower was one of the four original oatmeal motifs,
introduced in 1972 and retired early in 1978, that did not have a Latin name
printed next to the common name. The other three unnamed oatmeal motifs were
retired in the same year. The design was inspired by an image in the 1840
botany book La Flore des Dames by A. Jacquemart.
