PORTMEIRION WELSH DRESSER 8 INCH HIGH FAN SHAPE VASE
Unique Item With Huge Transfer - Excellent Condition - Cosmetic Flaw!

I am pleased to offer a different and retired Welsh Dresser 8 inch high fan shape vase. The rose transfers, found on front and back, are huge!

It has a green oval 2nds ID mark on the bottom. The only issue I see is that the oval shape at the top is irregular. This vase shape was not made for the general Welsh Dresser catalog and was probably produced exclusively for sale at Portmeirion's factory store. I suspect an experimental transfer was used on an imperfect blank making the vase a one of a kind piece. Please be sure to see below for more photos and description.

The vase is very clean and there are no signs of use or wear or other flaws.

The Welsh Dresser pattern, unfortunately, was retired a few years ago and is becoming difficult to find.

Portmeirion Welsh Dresser Vase

This pattern, designed by Angharad Menna, emulates old Llanelli Ware. Produced for 100 years, but unable to compete with other potters, Llanelli Ware stopped production in the early 1900's. Portmeiron's Welch Dresser is a continuation of this art.

There are two transfers with one each on the front and back. They are very large!

The top opening is larger on one side than another. Probably a cause for the 2nds ID mark. However, I have seen this anomaly on Botanic Garden vases that had full 1st quality backstamps.

Use Marks None, it is very clean both inside and outside. The bottom unglazed ring where it sits has just the slightest bit of shelf wear.
Other Comments Beautiful and unique Welsh Dresser vase!

As mentioned above, the ID mark is a light green oval 2nds ID, likely due to the irregular form at the top. Also, likely that it was only made for sale at Portmeirion's factory store making it a very unique one of a kind item.
