BOTANIC GARDEN COLLECTOR CLUB DAISY THIMBLE
Rare BG Collectible Item - Gold Trim!
|
I am happy to present a rare Botanic Garden thimble showing a
single Daisy or Bellis Perennis flower as well as two insects. There is also
a band of gold around the lower edge.
The thimble is in wonderful condition with no flaws, signs of use, or rubs on the gold.
In 1986 Portmeirion issued a set of twelve thimbles for The Thimble
Collectors club. This is one of the thimble motifs offered as a part of this
set and is fairly rare.

The Daisy was an original 1972 flower on bread and butter plates and still
remains in production today. It is based on an image found in the 1835 botany
book with illustrations by William Clarke,Moral of Flowers, and
written by Mrs. Hey.
