GRAY'S POTTERY TINY PIN DISH - YE OLDE JUG INN
Nice Vintage Gray's Collectible With Copper Lustre Border!
|
I am pleased to offer a very small vintage Gray's Pottery 3 inch wide pin dish featuring
The Olde Jug Inn. The image of an Inn is found on many Gray's shapes. This
dish looks like a transfer rather than the more usual hand painted design. and has a copper lustre border.
Please see the photos below...
A. E. Gray's Pottery was established in 1912 at Stoke-On-Trent, moved to Handley, and moved back to Stoke and existed from 1934 until 1961 when it was
bought by Portmeirion Potteries. Well known for their hand painted items,
marked with a sailing ship backstamp, did not manufacture the basic pottery themselves.
Blanks were purchased elsewhere and hand painted by Gray's decorators. Lustre
wares were a specialty and often seen painted with silver resist, copper, and other
lustre finishes.

Just under 3" across

Paint |
Very nice with no cuts and has super color. The copper lustre band on the
edge is great without any missing paint or rubs.

Ground |
The center is very white. There is a pin head sized are on the back that looks like an off color stilt mark. Very minor!

An excellent example of an Ye Old Jug Inn Gray's Pottery piece!

It is fully marked on the bottom with a black Clipper Ship, made in Stoke On Trent, ID Mark. I have
several of these small pin dishes and the two photos below are very similar to
the dish in this listing, however, may be slightly different.
There is a hand written pattern number written in green which is A86294.
