I am happy to offer a very, very rare one of a kind Pomona Hazel Nut 3.25 inch high (not including the lid) small canister or spice jar. This jar is the older style spice jar which is not as wide and does not have a lip on the top edge like newer jars. Pomona spice jars were not normally produced in this older shape. The Hazel Nut was retired very early and is hard to come by. The canister has a blue-grey colored oval 2nds ID mark only because it was made for sale exclusively in Portmeirion's factory store. Any 2nds ID color other than besides mustard or lime green were always used on sales samples, reproductions, or one of a kind items.

The rare spice jar is in excellent shiny condition with a lid that has very nice varnish and a tight fitting seal. It is in great shape with shiny glaze, excellent transfer, and no crazing. The only sign of wear is a slight bit of shelf wear on the unglazed bottom ring where it sits on a surface. Please to see the detailed photos and description below...


The Hazel Nut motif was one of the first retired many years ago and is no longer available. It is very hard to find today.

Other Comments	The lid is a wooden lid with straight sides, typical of the original spice jar shape. The wood and varnish condition is excellent with no dry or cracked varnish spots as is so common on older Portmeirion wooden lids. The gasket is excellent and holds a very tight seal. Such a hard to find and rare Hazel Nut spice jar in wonderful condition!

The ID mark is a Portmeirion blue-gray oval 2nds backstamp. As mentioned at the top of the page, this piece was made either as a sales sample or reproduction and never offered in the general Pomona catalog. In fact, this shape of spice jar was not made in the Pomona range.
