BOTANIC GARDEN GARDEN DOUBLE RHODODENDRON DINNER PLATE
Unique Dinner Plate With A Short Lived Double Version Of the Motif - Excellent Condition!
|
I am pleased to offer a unique one of a kind Botanic Garden dinner plate in the Double
Rhododendron or Rhododendron Lepidotum motif. The Rhododendron is a coffee cup flower with the
double version used for a short time in the 1990's on bread and butter plates. It carries a green factory 2nds ID mark definitely because this
motif was never offered on a dinner size plate. It was produced for sale exclusively in Portmeirion's factory store.
This unique plate is in wonderful condition with no signs of use or wear. The only issue
I see are a few minor and common tiny pinpoint sized glaze bubbles on the front and back.
The Rhododendron flower was an original 1973 coffee cup motif and later
included on a bread and butter plates in 1988. It remains in a current motif and is in
production today. It was based on an image in an 1840 book,Moral of
Flowers by Mrs. Hey, illustrated by William Clarke, 1835 by A. Jacquemart.

Other Comments |
Excellent opportunity to add a very different and unusual Rhodendron plate to your Botanic Garden collection!

This plate has an oval or seconds ID mark. The oval ID mark is often used for
items not in the product catalog, sales samples, or special decoration.
The Rhododendron was never used on dinner plates and is a unique special decoration. The few
little glaze bubbles might also be a reason for the 2nds backstmap.
