I am pleased to offer a 10 inch Botanic Garden Sweet Pea or Lathyrus Odoratus dinner plate. This is a pre-production sample with an unglazed back and pencil marking. I do not see any difference between this design and the normal Sweet Pea motif except there is no laurel border present.

The plate is in excellent condition. For the dedicated Portmeirion collector or the BG fan who wants a plate that is a little different.


The Sweet Pea was introduced recently in 2003 as a dinner plate motif and remains a current motif to this day.

The back is unglazed.

Size	10-1/2" across
Transfer	Perfect and bright colors
Ground	Very white
Glaze	Nice shiny glaze with no imperfections seen. There is no glaze on the back of the plate. It should be washed carefully by hand to preserve the pencil writing on the back.
Chips/Cracks	None
Stains	None
Use Marks	There are no signs of use except for a few very hard to see (unless looking sideways in a bright light), shallow, short, and minor stacking marks from another item stacked on top.
Other Comments	A rare no border Botanic Garden sample plate!

The back is not glazed. There is a pencil marking probably used to identify the plate at the factory or design shop.
