BOTANIC GARDEN VERY RARE SALT and PEPPER SET
Exceptionally Rare Double Canterbury Bells And Cut-Off Orchid!
|
I am pleased to offer a set of Salt and Pepper shakers that feature rarely
seen variations of the original oatmeal bowl flowers. The pepper features the Double Canterbury Bells variant and the salt
carries the cut-off Orchid. The motifs have been retired since 1978 and
each are a rare of the usual arrangement.
The set is in perfect shiny condition without crazing or any wear.
The Pepper pot has a Double version of Canterbury Bells or Redstar. There
are two sets of blue flowers and there is no red flower at the top. An
additional lady insect is also present.
The Canterbury Bells flower was one of the four original oatmeal motifs,
introduced in 1972 and retired early in 1978, that did not have a Latin name
printed next to the common name. The other three unnamed oatmeal motifs were
retired in the same year. The design was inspired by an image in the 1840
botany book La Flore des Dames by A. Jacquemart.
