RARE BOTANIC GARDEN RETIRED CHEESE DOME
Mint Condition, Very Desirable Botanic Garden Item!
|
I am happy to offer a Botanic Garden Cheese Dome, 11 inches wide, in excellent condition! The
popular cheese dome shape was retired a few years ago and is now difficult to
find. The Botanic Garden pattern is especially lovely!
The dish features the Cyclamen on the side, Daisy on the lid
and the Christmas Rose or Helleborus niger on the plate.
The Christmas Rose flower was
introduced in 1984 and retired recently in 2004. The lovely
design was based on an image in an antique botany book Medical Botany,
Volume I by John Stevenson and James Mors Churchill.

The Cyclamen flower was an original oatmeal bowl motif, introduced in 1972,
moved to a B & B plate in 1985, and still remains in production today. There
are two different insect and flower versions. The oldest has four flower
heads and the newer has nine heads. It was based on an image in an 1840
book,La Flore des Dames by A. Jacquemart.
The Daisy was an original 1972 flower on bread and butter plates and still
remains in production today. It is based on an image found in the 1835 botany
book with illustrations by William Clarke,Moral of Flowers, and
written by Mrs. Hey.
