I am happy to present an vintage Botanic Garden rectangle shape tablemat featuring a large
Christmas Rose or Helleborus Niger motif. The insect arrangements are
different than on the dinner plate.. This placemat has a
shiny surface (melamine?) and a cork back.
This tablemat has a Botanic Garden Variations style border that shows a
alternating Forget-Me-Not and Rhododendron.
The Christmas Rose flower was
introduced in 1984 and retired recently in 2004. The lovely
design was based on an image in an antique botany book Medical Botany,
Volume I by John Stevenson and James Mors Churchill.
From some old Portmeirion literature, here are use and care instructions:
PORTMEIRION PLACEMATS
Coated with a hard wearing Finish. Resistant to normal household stains and
withstands temperatures up to the boiling point of water. Not suitable for
use as chopping boards. Clean with a damp sponge and dry with a soft cloth.
Do not immerse in water, or put in dish washing machines.

Perfect condition, very clean and shiny face, with no flaws noted. The cork back is in like new condition.

The tablemats were made in New Zealand.
