BOTANIC GARDEN ALOE BREAD And BUTTER PLATE
Rare And Retired Long Ago - 1st Trophy ID With Original Script WRiting!
|
I am pleased to offer an excellent Botanic Garden Barbadoes Aloe or Aloe Bread and
Butter plate. The Aloe was an original 1972 motif and retired very early in 1976.
This plate is in very nice condition with some very clean crazing and few, if any, signs of use and shiny glaze. It
carries the original form of script writing vs. block writing on newer plates.
(Please excuse any white areas in the green Laurel border that are only glare from photo lighting.
The laurel is complete and perfect in person.)
The Aloe was one of the first Botanic Garden
motifs discontinued and has not been produced in many years.
It was an original bread and butter plate motif, introduced in 1972 and
retired in 1976. It was inspired by image in a 1824 book,The Universal
Herbal by Thomas Green.
