BOTANIC GARDEN 5.5 INCH DAISY And FORGET ME NOT FRUIT BOWL
Super BG Fruit Bowl With Unusual Green Number - Fine and Clean Crazing Present
|
I am pleased to offer a Botanic Garden 5.5 inch fruit bowl that
carries the Daisy or Bellis Perennis motif.
Daisy is still used on B and B plates and often used as an accent along with
coffee cup flowers on large bowls. The outside is surrounded by
a ring of the Forget-Me-Not motif. It is unusual that it has a green number near the plant name.
This bowl is in overall nice condition with few signs of use. However, is overall clean crazing
present. Please see the photos and full description below...
The Daisy was an original 1972 flower on bread and butter plates and still
remains in production today. It is based on an image found in the 1835 botany
book with illustrations by William Clarke,Moral of Flowers, and
written by Mrs. Hey.

During the late 1970's and early 1980's, Portmeirion used a numbering system
on some motifs. This item has a very pale green number 1 near the bottom of the flower.

Very shiny glaze overall with no flaws except a tiny speck of sand imbedded in the glaze. VERY tiny and mentioned only to be completely accurate!
There is very clean and fine crazing overall. With crazing, however,
it should only be used with dry foods and washed by hand quickly in clean dishwater.
