BOTANIC GARDEN RARE DOUBLE MEXICAN LILY 15 INCH OVAL PLATTER
Rare Mexican Lily Version With Two Sets Of Flowers - Mint Shiny Condition!
|
I am happy to present a rare Botanic Garden 15 inch oval platter in the
Mexican Lily or Amaryllis Reginae motif. This rare motif has two sets of a
double Mexican Lily flower where each half is different from the
other. And, it is in excellent condition with shiny glaze and no signs of use or wear.
The Mexican Lily was an original 1973 motif on dinner plates and retired in
1993. This Double version was only produced for a short time in the 1990's.
The Mexican Lily flower was an
original dinner plate motif, introduced in 1972 and retired in 1994. It was
inspired by image in a 1824 book,The Universal Herbal by Thomas
Green.

Three dinner plate versions were made. At the start of the Botanic Garden range in 1972,
a first version was produced in very small quantities. Then, the 2nd
insect arrangement used for many, many years until 1993. The third version was
made only from 1993 until the Mexican Lily was retired in 1994. Also, a very
rare Double version exists and is seen on 15 inch platters and placemats.

Transfer |
Both transfers are perfect and colorful without flaw. This platter has an
'overglaze' transfer. These plates always are more shiny and the transfer is more
pronounced and crisp than the newer transfers.

Ground |
Very white
|
Glaze |
Very shiny with no crazing or other glaze flaw. This glaze is more shiny and bright than most BG pieces.
To make a complete description, there is a pin head sized dark mark on the outermost outside bottom unglazed ring. Very minor and probably caused at the factory. It was to small to photograph.
