PORTMEIRION POMONA 5 INCH WILMOTS EARLY RED GOOSEBERRY CANISTER
Very Hard To Find Retired Gooseberry Fruit - Super Condition!
|
I am happy to offer a rare Pomona Wilmots Early Red 5 inch high (5.5 inches with the lid) canister. It is in
great condition with NO crazing and a lid with a tight seal and no damaged varnish. Retired many years ago, the Wilmots Early Red motif is now hard to find.
NOTE: If you would rather have a lid with straight sides, I can probably substitute with a nice one.
The two Gooseberry motifs, including Wilmots Early Red, were among the first
fruits retired many years ago. It was used as an accent motif on larger pieces until recently.

Other Comments |
The lid condition is excellent with no dry and cracked varnish spots as is so common
on older Portmeirion wooden lids. There are some darker wood grain lines which makes it interesting. It is a lid with rounded edges vs. the
earlier type of lid with straight sides. If you would like a lid with straight sides, I can probably substitute with another very nice one.
The rubber gasket still holds a great seal!
A rare Wilmots Early Red Pomona canister that is hard to find in such nice condition!

The ID mark is a brown Pomona Goddess Of Fruit backstamp. Brown ID
marks were used prior to 1985 when the color changed to salmon. On my
monitor, the color below is more orange than in person.
