BOTANIC GARDEN DARK HONEYSUCKLE DINNER PLATE
Original Dark Orange And Pink Version Of Flower!
|
I am pleased to offer an excellent Botanic Garden Honeysuckle or Pericylmenum
Lonicera dinner plate. The Honeysuckle was originally made in a dark and later in a
pale version. This plate is the darker version. Please see the photos below
for a comparison.
It is in great condition with a very bright flower and shiny glaze. It is very shiny with
no signs of use with no silver lines, scratches, or crazing. The only issue I
see is a tiny factory flaw, a pin head sized spot, on the inside rim. Too small to photograph, it is described below.
The Honeysuckle was introduced in 1983 as a dinner plate motif and was
retired in 1999. Toward the last few years of this motif, there was also
a Pale version with yellow and peach colored flowers versus the brighter pink
and orange flowers present on the original flower. Insect arrangements are
different on each version as well. The design was inspired
by an antique 1835 botanical illustration by William Clarke in the
book Moral of Flowers by Mrs. Hey.

Transfer |
Very bright and colorful with no flaws. This is an overglaze transfer that is more crisp and well defined than most.

Very white

Glaze |
No crazing and very shiny glaze everywhere. Too small to photograph and caused at the factory, there
is a very small pin head sized darker spot in a white area near the inner rim. it could be a
spot of sand, common on older Portmeirion, but so small I cannot tell for sure.
