BOTANIC GARDEN SQUARE SPEEDWELL COASTER - MAROON BORDER
Unusual Thick BG Coaster - Current Oatmeal Flower - Excellent!
|
I am happy to present a unique Botanic Garden 4 inch square coaster featuring the
Speedwell or Veronica Chamaedrys surrounded by maroon and gold tone edge. It is thicker than the
usual Portmeirion coaster with a paper (or melamine) top and has a felt
backing. It is much more substantial then the usual cork backed coasters.
It is like
new with the Portmeirion sticker still attached to the back.
The Speedwell flower is an original 1972 coffee cup motif and remains in
production today. It was based on an illustration by William Clarke in
Mrs. Hey's botany book,Moral of Flowers.
---> Back Side <---
The surface is a shiny paper (or melamine?) and the base feels like wood. The
black covering material also goes around to cover the sides. The back is
covered with a dark green felt material.
Botanic Garden coasters are usually sold in sets of six in a box, but I believe
these coasters were sold individually.
A sticker on the back says:
PORTMEIRION
Wipe clean after use with a damp soapy cloth. Never immerse in water or
place in dishwashing machines. Backing material not colour fast. Heat
resistant to 85C. Hand made in England.
