BOTANIC GARDEN VARIATIONS 'PALE' HONEYSUCKLE DINNER PLATE
Beautiful And Retired Flower - Mint With Tag - Discontinued BG Pattern!
|
I am happy to present a nice Botanic Garden Dinner plate featuring the
pale version of the Honeysuckle or Pericylmenum Lonicera motif. The Variations pattern,
created to compliment Botanic Garden, was retired several years ago.
There are two versions of the Honeysuckle. The 'dark' version has orange and
yellow petals while the pale has lighter pink and peach colors.
The Honeysuckle was introduced in 1983 as a dinner plate motif and was
retired in 1999. Toward the last few years of this motif, there was also
a Pale version with yellow and peach colored flowers versus the brighter pink
and orange flowers present on the original flower. Insect arrangements are
different on each version as well. The design was inspired
by an antique 1835 botanical illustration by William Clarke in the
book Moral of Flowers by Mrs. Hey.

Botanic Garden Variations pattern was introduced in 1990 and discontinued
in 2000. All pieces feature a ring of Rhododendron and Forget-Me-Not
and have a smaller version of the center BG motif. The backstamp is very
complex as can be seen in the bottom photo.
