PORTMEIRION ROSE AND PASSION FLOWER DOUBLE HANDLE ROSE BOWL
Very Unique And Hard To Find Retired Pattern!
|
I am happy to offer a rare Portmeirion Rose And Passion Flower
small rose bowl with two handles. Portmeirion made rose bowls in the late
1970's and are hard to find today.
This unusual bowl carries one transfer on each side and is in great condition with
only some patches of crazing and a very small glaze pop on the rim.
Please see the photos and description below...
The Rose and Passion Flower pattern was taken from an 18th century watercolor drawing.
It was introduced in about 1978 and retired, unfortunately, in 1983. It is, I
think, one of the most stunning Portmeirion patterns.

|
Size |
About 5-1/2" from handle to handle, almost 3" high and 2-1/2" across the bottom foot
|
Transfer |
Beautiful large transfer repeated on front and back, colorful and without any flaw
|
Ground |
Very white
|
Glaze |
The glaze is in nice shiny condition everywhere.
There are some
patches of very clean and hard to see crazing. On the inside, there is
one patch along the edge and is seen on about 1/3 of the interior. On the
outside there are a few lines on each handle and only about 4 lines on the
rest of the exterior. Crazing is often seen on older Portmeirion and, unless
using the piece for food service, would not worry much about this crazing
because it is so clean and hard to see.
|
Chips/Cracks |
On the rim there is a tiny pin point sized area that looks like a little glaze
pop. It is so small that I cannot tell if there is any glaze over it or not.
|
Stains |
None, except for some shelf wear on the bottom unglazed foot where it sits on s surface. Please see the photo below.
|
Use Marks |
None, except for a one or two very clean and shallow short scratches on the inside. Likely from another item placed inside the bowl and very minor.

Other Comments |
A very unique and hard to find Rose And Passion Flower rose bowl!
|
The ID mark a mustard color oval 2nds backstamp. This bowl was likely never
produced in the Rose and Passion Flower catalog and this was made during a
special one of a kind production run. It may have also been deemed a 2nd because of the little glaze pop on the rim.

The ID mark is very similar, but is more pale, to the one shown below.
