I am happy to present a mint 1992 Botanic Garden Christmas bell in its original satin lined box. A Rhododendron bud and deep blue butterfly graces the First Edition in the Botanic Garden Christmas Bell series and is hard to find.

Note: The photos below were borrowed from another identical bell. The green Laurel around the bottom looks uneven in the photos. The Laurel border on this bell is nice and very even.


A dark green satin ribbon, hard to see in the photos, is tied to the top for hanging.

The Rhododendron flower was an original 1973 coffee cup motif and later included on a bread and butter plates in 1988. It remains in a current motif and is in production today. It was based on an image in an 1840 book,Moral of Flowers by Mrs. Hey, illustrated by William Clarke, 1835 by A. Jacquemart.

The Portmeirion Botanic Garden Christmas bell series started in 1992 with the Rhododendron flower and ended in 2000 with the Yellow Jasmine. A new bell is still made yearly but is no longer called a 'Christmas' bell and would be more appropriately called a 'Year' bell. The bell size and shape are the same, but the writing is a different color, the word 'Christmas' has been replaced by a saying.

Other Comments	It comes in its original Portmeirion forest green presentation box. The 1992 box was the only box that carries the date of the bell on the lid. Both box and lid are in excellent condition. This is a rare and desirable 1st edition of the Botanic Garden bell to complete your Christmas Bell collection!
